We live in Penticton BC...one of the best places ever..to live and to visit. Wine, golfing, boating..I mean..it has everything. We decided to rent out our loft to folks looking for a vacation rental.
A pic I took just the other morning, looking north up Lake Okanagan. That is a kids aquatic play centre...WiBit...
Full moon just rising over the lake
When we were doing our home inspection prior to buying it..they had two bbq's and I asked myself...why? So..now we too have two bbq's. Reason being...it's called rationalizing...we often eat on the front deck, so...one there...
However...if we have a large gathering....and are in the back....
If you are wishing to reserve for our loft, we use two platforms..AirBnB and Booking.com. If you type in Sunshine and Wine Loft in your search window..both of those will show up and you can make your reservations!
Are you coming to the Okanagan for our Spring Wine Festival? Our rather sumptuous and well appointed loft is available. For vineyard touring and wine tasting and lots of great dining....or even a burger or pizza...which to me IS fine dining. Plus there are now FOUR craft breweries in Penticton alone. Highway 97 is the newest...then Cannery, Bad Tattoo and Tin Whistle.
This was shot Dec 28th on Apex by Preserved Light Photography.
How to we deal with snow in Penticton? I have been told that an artful application of hot air will work wonders.
We have skiing!!!
Two wonderful 'local' mountains..local means fewer peeps...fewer fancy facilities..which means cheaper that the big ones. We have family with us this Christmas and they are big hill folks..Whistler/Blackcomb and they were truly impressed with the mountains. True...not so much x3 Blacks...more wide sweeps and huge powder.
This is Baldy on Dec 20th.
Family time
Travel time from the loft is 30 minutes to Apex and 90 to Baldy.
Salty's..a restaurant here in town is offering a winter special. A Buck a Shuck. Oysters for a buck each! So the other night we went up and made sure that the offering met our very high standards. It was all of that and more...we need to go back, just to be sure......
Damn but I like the picture. It's a vineyard on the Naramata Bench and there are some colour ones in the Blog of the same..but I really really enjoy this black and white shot.
This is on the east Skaha Road between Penticton and Oliver
There is a wildlife migration and protection zone along the Skaha East road and I was rewarded today. The Bighorn sheep herd were in.
Yes yes yes..here is the same vineyard on the Naramata Bench Road but the colour shot.
I have been away for a couple of weeks taking in the Washington coast and all of it's bounty. Meaning oysters and beer, mostly.
Sunrise on the Willapa River in Washington State
Home again tho and we took a drive down to the Okanagan Lake shore this morning.
Life in Penticton slows down come the fall. The vineyards and winery tasting rooms are open tho and there is no waiting for a table at any of the restaurants. It's a great get-away place...whether for a weekend or a mid-week jaunt....come on up...kick back and light the candles...take a soak in the jetted tub. Cool the jets for a couple days. You deserve it.
Later on we took a spin out onto the Naramata Bench Road. The late grapes hang..waiting for the frost...to be made into Ice Wine.
Ski
season is on it's way, and if you are coming to Apex, then you want to
be in Penticton for your off-hill time. We offer a perfect place to do
that....and all for $130 a night. We do limit it to two people in the
room and have a heated garage to store and dry gear.
